- Block 5 of CQA’s #52blocks52weeks block is NOT done … not cut out … I should do that soon, before I have 20 blocks that I need to catch up on.
- Good Fortune: Starting to web the centre of the quilt. The purple HST for one of the pieced borders is in progress
I’ve started quilting #2 on my PHD list. See HERE. What I started doing, I hated. Along came my husband and he suggested doing a wavy leaf-type thing. He drew it out … I tried it with disasterous results. Then … the brain started thinking … I made my own template … I placed layers of masking tape down … first right to left, then top to bottom and then diagonal … cut out his drawing, traced it on the masking tape and cut it out. Voila! a template to use to quilt around.
I placed it on the HST and quilted around it … after a few, it started to loose it’s sticky-ness, so I just drew around it with chalk. In reality – it was easier to follow the chalk line than deal with the masking tape template. But I found a solution that made the quilting some-what consistent.
Are you going to join us? It’s still not too late … the cutting directions will be coming out tomorrow. You can access the fabric requirements & tomorrow the cutting directions HERE.
Here’s the fabrics that I choose for this mystery. You can see which fabric I chose for which part HERE. I am doing the “throw” size. There are 4 different sizes to choose from: Baby, Throw, Twin & Queen. Come and join in the fun!!!!
Turnabout Patchwork E-book Winner
My day for the blog hop was on Feb. 4. You can see the post HERE. At the time, I offered one of my readers a FREE electronic copy of the book. In order to win, you had to tell me why YOU should be the one to win. I also stated that I would not read beyond the first 2 sentences. I copied all of the comments onto a word document and gave them to my husband … he had no idea if the comments were from my friends, cousins or who they were from.
Oh me, oh my!!! This was a trial for him!!! He felt that all of the comments were worthy.
He was explaining to me why everyone should win. He then crossed off the ones with more than two sentences. “They have to be able to follow directions,” he said. Time, lots of time passed … and more time …
I was about to number them and put a number in a bowl and draw the winner. When I told him I was going to do that, he said, “Why? I’ve chosen one to be the winner.” SO – why did he wait so long to tell me? (It took him a few hours to choose the winner – he took the task very, very seriously!)
SEW – the winner is: Willow. Her winning comment was: Okay, Okay, I’m convinced after reading so many blogs on this great line up of quilters that I MUST give striped fabrics a try in an upcoming quilt! Love your teal/aqua fabric.
I have notified Teresa (the author) and she will be sending the notification to the publisher and Willow will receive her electronic copy.
Thank you to everyone that took the time to comment! As I said earlier, my husband thought that all were worthy.
